Skele-Toes 1.0

I bought a pair of Fila Skele-Toes 1.0 today, also known as toe shoes.

Apparently these toe shoes are meant for people who run and are looking to have a minimalist running experience, such as if they were running barefoot. The Italian company Vibram's FiveFingers toe shoes are designed more for fitness whereas the Fila Skele-Toes are designed to be more of a lifestyle shoe.

Even though I'm not a runner, these shoes definitely intrigue me. My sister-in-law also bought a pair for herself, and while we thought we buy the same style, it turns out she bought the Skele-Toes Amp, which I actually like better.

I'm sure I will get a lot of stares wearing these shoes, but that doesn't bother me :)

Kid Rock and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Tonight I went and saw Kid Rock perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at the Fox Theatre. This concert was held as a fundraiser for the DSO in hopes of raising $1 million, which was succeeded :)

This was my second, but definitely not last, Kid Rock concert with my first being last summer at Comerica Park. With my love for Kid Rock (who has always been my favorite male artist) and the orchestra (since I use to play the violin back in middle school and loved it), this was an opportunity I could not pass up. I hope to continue seeing Kid Rock live in concert in Detroit, and I even hope to attend his Chillin' The Most Cruise.

Raising Funds for Mutt March 2012

Today I joined Team Bully to walk in the Michigan Humane Society's 2012 Mutt March. This fundraiser supports the MHS programs and services that benefit more than 100,000 animals each year.

I have set a goal to raise $156, which is the average cost to save an animal's life at MHS. I have a fundraising web page set-up at www.michiganhumane.org/goto/nicolesmith to collect donations (minimum of $10 online). Please consider giving in support of my efforts to help homeless, injured and neglected animals in my community.
